Radha is an engineer, musician, filmmaker, and an abstract artist with works that often reflect the fusion of her South Asian roots with her American upbringing. As a musician, she has had several songs placed in film and TV, was recognized by iHeartRadio as an “Artist To Watch”, and had the honor of opening to an audience of 30,000+ for EXIT Festival in Serbia, one of the largest and most prestigious award-winning music festivals in all of Europe. As a filmmaker, her short films have won awards at film festivals across the US.
Radha is most passionate about painting. Her abstract expressionist fluid style paintings incorporate bright and vivid colors, gold, copper, and silver which reflect the ornate and festive colors celebrated during Holi across India, while her monochrome works reflect the modernity and simplicity of American minimalism. Her mediums include resin, acrylic, oil, inks, watercolor, glitter, and powders. The act of letting go and being anything but precise when fluid painting allows Radha a chance to break free from the logic, reasoning, and indelible precision often required of her when in an engineering state of mind. This yin and yang experience is rooted deep within her works with an aim to offer a sense of calm and balance.
OSHO's quote represents the journey I am currently exploring through abstract expressionism and fluid painting. The deep and rich colors of nature, particularly water with its glorious shades of blue and earth with its enlightening shades of green, continue to inspire my works every day. The abstract nature of my paintings allows me the freedom to experience the peaks (excitement) and valleys (hollowness) of emotions on a continual and simultaneous basis, while never knowing nor having full control of the outcome. The process in itself is meditative for me, and the instant gratification I get the moment my paint is poured serves to keep me balanced in state of mind.
